The Natural Beauty of Ontario's Deerhurst Resort

The lovely lakeside Deerhurst Resort is a year-round playground.

Nestled on the banks of Peninsula Lake in Muskoka, Ontario, the Deerhurst Resort has been welcoming guests since 1896 who travel to the area to enjoy the beauty of the northern lakes of this beautiful province.

Built by a young Englishman named Charles Waterhouse, the resort was the first of its kind in the area, offering charming amenities and plenty of activities to keep everyone busy all day long.

The resort has continued to grow through the years and now boasts 800 acres of breathtaking scenery and accommodations for more than 1,000 guests.

Accommodations
The lodging at Deerhurst Resort includes charming and spacious hotel rooms and suites. All include the most modern amenities and offer lovely touches, such as fireplaces and whirlpool tubs.

Accommodations are sprinkled throughout the lush grounds of the resort and are located in low-rise buildings for easy accessibility.

Sports villas include either golf course or pool views and the resort's suites feature full kitchens for those who may want to prepare a few meals instead of eating out.

Conference Facilities
Deerhurst Resort has gained a reputation as the ideal place to hold business conferences or special events and has received numerous awards for service excellence. The reasons are obvious.

With 40,000 square feet of meeting, exhibit & conference space, 32 meeting rooms, 2 ballrooms with space for up to 1000 people, two 18-hole golf courses including the widely acclaimed Deerhurst Highlands, 3 restaurants, and 2 lounges, your company will have everything they need at their fingertips for both business and leisure needs.

Activities
Depending on what time of year you choose to visit, your activities will vary. In the spring, summer, and early fall months, golf is quite popular and many visit Deerhurst Resort solely for the purpose of playing each day.

Two courses are on site as well as a practice range, putting green, and golf academy, where visitors can brush up on their game. Two fully-stocked pro shops rent clubs and sell all the accessories you'll need for a great game of golf.

Other recreational activities include indoor and outdoor tennis, basketball hoops, horseback riding, swimming, beaches, squash and racquetball, beach volleyball, and plenty of nature trails for hiking and biking.

In the winter months, enjoy cross country skiing or snowshoeing, sleigh rides, and ice skating on site.

The Deerhurst Resort offers children's programs for kids from age 6 months to 12 years old featuring a variety of activities that children are sure to love.

While the kids are entertained, schedule a visit to the Aveda Spa for an amazing range of spa treatments including facials, massages, mud baths, and much more. This state-of-the-art concept spa is a recent addition to this lovely resort.

Food and Entertainment
Dining at this Canadian resort can range from an elegant dinner to a picnic somewhere on the 800-acre grounds around the lake. A Dine Around Meal Plan is available and includes a buffet breakfast and 3-course dinner.

When the lights go down at Deerhurst, the stars come out. Enjoy a great variety of entertainment on the stage where Shania Twain got her start in showbiz.
