Caribbean Holidays provide Fun in the Sun and
Lots More

Caribbean holidays can keep you active and busy or provide you with a good opportunity to relax and soak in the sun.

The islands of the Caribbean are vastly different and those planning a Caribbean holiday will want to carefully consider just what they're looking for in a summer or winter vacation before choosing an island location.

Some are more rugged than others, making them an enticing destination for the nature lover or ecotourist. Some have quite an interesting past and attract history lovers.

Despite the diversity, however, most of the islands are indeed breathtaking and offer guests the best in picturesque scenery, exciting watersports, intriguing history, and long sandy beaches.

Still others represent your typical tropical island, lined with palm trees and covered with pink sand, perfect for the traveler who prefers to lie on the beach and do absolutely nothing.

Here's a little information about some of the most popular Caribbean holiday destinations.

Anguilla
Boasting 33 beaches, sophisticated art galleries and museums, and a plethora of gourmet restaurants, Anguilla is a treat for all the senses. Nature lovers like Anguilla also, thanks to its varied ecosystems from rainforest to tropics.

Seven marine parks make Anguilla a great place to dive and the island offers plenty of opportunity to enjoy other watersports such as sailing, fishing, and water skiing.

Aruba
The only Caribbean island that's never been hit by a hurricane, Aruba is a paradise for guests young and old. A large number of all-inclusive resorts attract families who are searching for Caribbean holidays that are all rolled up into one neat package.

In addition to water activities, Aruba's diverse terrain and unusual topography make it a terrific place to explore on foot, by bike, or in a Jeep or ATV.

Bahamas
The 700 islands of the Bahamas occupy more than 500 miles of the beautiful, clear Caribbean Sea. While many visitors travel each year to the large islands of Nassau and Grand Bahama, others enjoy the unique characteristics of the small Out Islands.

Of course, many guests come to the Bahamas to enjoy the watersports. However, the history of the islands is also fascinating and the sightseeing is fun and interesting.

Accommodations range from small beach cottages to five-star resorts and huge luxury villas that offer lodging for extended families and groups traveling together.

Cayman Islands
Both avid fishermen and divers flock to the Cayman Islands each year to experience the best of both sports. Nature lovers adore this Caribbean island, with its interesting wildlife and unusual flora.

The beaches are fine, the food is world-renowned, the average yearly temperature is about 77 degrees, and the islands are only a one-hour flight from Miami, making them an ideal location for a Caribbean holiday year-round.

Jamaica
Famous for its coffee and reggae music, the island of Jamaica provides visitors with everything from world-famous beaches, like Montego Bay, to banana groves and sugarcane fields.

Once a British colony, the island is still decidedly English, though in recent decades it's become a real blending of cultures. The people are charming, the resorts grand, and the waters are warm and inviting.

U.S. Virgin Islands
The islands of St. Croix, St. John, and St. Thomas all offer something a little different for travelers on a Caribbean holiday.

The National Parks of St. John are a mecca for nature-lovers and St. Thomas is known as the shopping capital of the Caribbean. St. Croix, the largest island, offers rain forests, national historic sites, and some of the best diving in the world.

Choosing an Island
Because all the islands of the Caribbean are so special, it may be difficult to zero in on one particular destination for your holiday. Select your favorite activities and desired accommodation type, and locate a choice of islands that will offer the perfect Caribbean holiday for you and your family.
